Village Council Awards $300K Contract For Vets Field Restroom Construction

In Uncategorized on December 11, 2008 at 11:55 am

On Wednesday evening, the Village Council unanimously approved the award of a $300k contract for the construction of public restrooms at the Kasschau Memorial Shell to the TQM Construction Company of Rockaway, NJ.

In defending a $300k expenditure made during tough financial times, Council members stated that they’d received literally hundreds of e-mails from parents who were concerned that using existing restrooms in the public library, and/or Village Hall, would not be safe for young children due to traffic in the municipal complex parking lot.

  1. $300 for bathrooms is unreasonable in this economic time. If we accept this type of waste we have no right to complain about taxes. There are bathrooms available in the area. If I can concerned about the safety of my child I or another responsible adult will escort them. If we are going to waste this type of money don’t even talk about reducing services and personnel! If we want to cut expenses it is this type of waste that must go!

  2. I was thinking the same thing: why not just escort the child to the bathroom?

  3. How can I escort the child to the bathroom if I drop them off at the field and then go off to have lattes with my friends?

  4. Please. The Village took down the restroom facility during the renovation and did not build another. They should have put the restrooms in the budget for the Village Hall Renovation.

  5. this is ridiculous to spend such monies when the town is complaining about the budget and cutting jobs.

  6. And the VC complains that the Christmas Tree costs too much to have at Broad St. & Ridgewood Ave.

Give me a break. This sucks Ridgewood. Wake up you my friends, we are getting screwed and no one seems to mind.

  7. we are getting screwed and no one seems to mind

    This bears repeating.

  8. On Wednesday evening, the Village Council unanimously approved the award of a $300k contract for the construction of public restrooms at the Kasschau Memorial Shell to the TQM Construction Company of Rockaway, NJ.

Was this before or after the fired the Village workers due to budget constraints?

  9. It’s a well know fact that the children of Ridgewood and their parents do not know how to cross streets, whether they be in parking lots or not, very well. I applaud the initiative to keep the peeing in the park. Well done, VC!

  10. 4:57 Most likely after.
    12:26 That’s HYSTERICAL.
11:34/12:17 Parents actually watching their kids? i think 12:26 hit it on the head.. Therefore the entire village now has to pay for kids to pee..

  11. Where will the restrooms at Vets be located? Hopefully, someone has thought this trough enough, so that the location does not inadvertently conflict with recommendations made in the Parks and Recreation Master Plan, resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars to relocate the restrooms in a couple of years. BE SMART PEOPLE!

  12. portable potties are about 100 per month rent one for the summer months

  13. they spend this kind of money on this, well well .we all dont wont to hear you dont have any more money.stop the bull shit now.and they have the balls to talk about laying off workers that make this town look good, tell me a nother bull shit story.

  14. build a nice wooden enclosure then put the port a potties in it. it will look good, do the job, and not waste all that money. is COMMON SENSE… seen these @ the beach looks very nice.

  15. Get some port-o-potties and be done with it. 300 grand for toilets? Give me a break.
