campaign vandalism

In Uncategorized on October 27, 2008 at 5:51 pm

The Fly has learned that Obama supporters went around last night stealing McCain Palin lawn signs. And in a few cases, adding insult to injury, planted Obama signs in their stead.

The Fly wonders if this is happening all over Ridgewood considering these victims lived in different neighborhoods. Does anyone else know of other incidents of Obama supporters committing campaign vandalism?

  3. Effigy of Palin Hanging by Noose is Halloween Fun, Owner Says

    From the article:
…The outdoor decor features a mannequin dressed as Palin, wearing a red business suit, eyeglasses and brunette beehive wig, hanging by a noose off the chimney. Right above her, a devilish John McCain emerges from the chimney with paper flames surrounding him….

…Chad Michael Morisette, who lives in the house, told CBS 2 News that the effigy would be out of bounds at any other time of year, but it’s within the spirit of Halloween….

Response from the media and the Public:

    Yawn.

    Question:
Can you imagine the response from the media and the public if it was Obama hanging from a noose in effigy (all within the spirit of Halloween of course)

  4. Some guy in Ohio hanged an “Obama” ghost from a tree in a noose last week.

I heard about from an Ohioan I know. Didn’t see any massive media response.

  5. The Obama people are desperate for him to win this election! They will do anything unethical to get him in. What happened to his birth certificate? The fact that he does not have one from this country is being suppressed by the media. Doesn’t that worry anyone? This is a disgrace…wake up people…we are being fooled by a smooth talker and will all be very sorry if he becomes president. People are pulling their money out of the market fearing an Obama win with the liberals running the country.

  6. if obama wins, look for a 2000+ point drop from whatever it is that day.

  7. Certainly not a boring campaign season, is it , Ollie?

  8. Phares on al Hurra TV: “Iran’s regime awaits an Obama victory to Proceed on Iraq”

    Washington DC,

In his remarks on an al Hurra TV Panel today, Professor Walid Phares said the Iranian regime is “awaiting what it expect to be a victory for Senator Obama to proceed with the next stage in their policies regarding Iraq.” Phares, a Senior Fellow with the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies said it is less likely Tehran would allow the Iraqi Government to sign a strategic agreement with the United States before a change of Presidency in Washington. “Ahmedijnijad’s regime will not give the incumbent Administration any agreement on Iraq. If Senator Obama is elected they will begin sending signs that they are ready to do business, but in reality they will try to gain as much time and create crises around the region and the world to deflect the attention of an Obama Administration. If Senator McCain is elected, the Iranian regime will try to score more small victories before McCain forms his teams and launches his Administration in the region for new plans.

Addressing the announcement by Israel’s President Shimon Peres that his country is ready to consider the Saudi Arab plan, Phares said “this is a signal that Israel sees dangers looming to its north and west, coming from an advancing Iranian regime. What happens in Baghdad will impact what can happen in Gaza and the West Bank.”

  9. Obama desperate? That’s rich!

  10. Borgy, all of your retorts have been hear say.

    Nice try.

  11. Goodbye capitalism. Hello socialism. Westsiders, get ready to redistribute your wealth! Don’t whine after you elect Obama.

  12. Can you believe the number of wealthy homes with Obama signs on their lawns.

Talk about voting against your own best interest. Wow, are these people dumb or what?

It just goes to prove you don’t have to be smart to be rich.

I can’t wait for my first tax cut check from the government, thanks to the dopey rich people who voted for Obama.

Maybe they wont mind picking up the tab for my family’s health insurance too.

America, what a wonderful place. They give you stuff for free.

  13. 3:25 — So by your measure, Joe the Plumber is an idiot for supporting McCain because he’s not wealthy. Well, atleast we agree on something. This “wealthy Westsider” supports Obama because our money comes from a service business — one that depends on people at large being able to afford our services. We do better when the middle class has money to spend, and paying a larger tax burden because we can easily afford it doesn’t make us dumb, it makes us practical.

  14. 7:49 — actually, only one was hearsay. I gave a link to the Obama effigy story. The sign burning happened to a friend of mine. Click my profile and write me — my contact info is there. I’m not hiding behind anonymity. I’ll tell you all about it.

  15. OMG! Was anybody hurt when the signs were replaced? Or was it just pride?

One year our decorations were swapped with a neighbor’s. It was silly but not a bad prank.

  16. 442 dont you know by know that when politicians say they are gonna tax the rich they define rich as anyone with a job…by the way when the Bush tax cuts expire it will be a huge hit to the middle class in new jersey and greatly increase the flight out of this state .

  17. Here is an example of ‘Redistribution of Wealth’ written in terms that even I can understand … it is a good read ….

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read ‘Vote Obama, I need the money.’ I laughed.

Once in the restaurant my server had on a ‘Obama 08’ tie, again
laughed as he had given away his political preference–just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept.

He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to
redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need–the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank
the server inside as I’ve decided he could use the money more. The
    homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept ….. than in practical application.

OR IS IT………REDISTRIBUTION OF SOMEONE ELSE’S WEALTH IS A
    GREAT IDEA…………..or just a fools game !!

  18. 1:34 – Go back and read what 3:25 had to say about paying more taxes. Have you ever been really hungry or worried about managing rent and car payments or shopped in thrift shops for your clothes? I really don’t believe that anyone who has really struggled along, worked hard (two jobs at times while living frugally) and ended up comfortable — not even rich — really minds paying more tax if it can help others become comfortable. That is how the “trickle down” is supposed to work. Hunger and financial worries are not fun and if I have to pay a little more tax to help someone on their way to a better standard of living that’s OK. (BTW, I am middle class – not even upper middle class and I live in Ridgewood). You try finding decent housing around here on $45,000 a year! I’m sure that waiter you stiffed has to manage just that!

  19. 230 you are full of bs and you think more money for the goverment to steal from you is going to help the poor sorry to break it to you but welfare reform did more for the poor than 40 years of welfare ….remind me again how much jim mcgreivey stole from our childern ?

  20. hey, anyone know where I can get a McCain Palin sign or button? I couldn’t find an address for a local Republican Party office.

Don’t want to order online because time is short.

  21. 7:04, thanks for asking that question! I would like to get one too…James, you should know!

  22. Hey – 2:30

The US government is not a charity. If you look at each tax dollar and see how much of it actually goes to the needy, I think you’d find that you would do better to have less taxes and more money in your pocket to go the NJ Food Bank.

Whether Democrat or Republican, the US government is going to waste money and it’s not going to help the poor.

  23. For McCain Palin signs email this local person who lives in Ridgewood.

    RAOrtiz@pbnlaw.com

  24. 2:30 PM,

If you read what 1:34 actually said and you would find that it is prefaced with, “Here is an example of ‘Redistribution of Wealth’ written in terms that even I can understand … it is a good read ….”

Your accusation, “I’m sure that waiter you stiffed has to manage just that!” (Living in Ridgewood on 45k per year)

1:34 never said he did this. His comment, “even I can understand…” indicates that he read it somewhere else and is sharing it with us.

No wonder you don’t get the irony (redistribution), your grasp of what you read is very limited.
