The Ridgewood Real Estate market is buzzing with a rumor that Green Bay Packer Legend Brett Favre, now with the NY Jets, is house hunting in Ridgewood NJ. Will he become the latest in a long line of famous Ridgewood residents or will this rumor prove false just like the “Johnny Damon is moving to Ridgewood” rumor of a few years back? At the time of this post, I can neither confirm or deny this rumor but it sure would make things in Ridgewood interesting – if it were true.

from the http://ridgewoodfrontporch.com/

  1. Favre is a country boy, and Ridgewood (for all its charms) ain't country.

The Jets are building a new training camp facility in Basking Ridge. WFAN reported the other day that the Jets, in "selling" Favre on the idea of joining the team, said that the areas west of Basking Ridge are rural & more to his liking as a place to live.

  2. What about Martha MacCallum from Fox News? The Front Porch site needs to add her. She lives in town.

  3. There goes the neighborhood…

  4. And Kristine Johnson of CBS News; James E. Hansen, Ph.D., famous for his work in Climate Change sciences; etc.

  5. James E. Hansen, Ph.D., famous for his work in Climate Change sciences

Well there’s a real household celebrity name.

  6. 5:48 – Dr. Hansen is quite well known and quoted, interviewed or spotlighted in the NY Times almost weekly. Those who read and/or follow current events will recognize his name. I would certainly say he’s far more recognizable than some on that list (MC Barman (rapper), Tabatha Coffey (hairstylist), Niles Eldridge (paleontologist), Buddy Neilsen (wannabe rock star), etc).

  7. Dr. Hansen is a global warming nut case ….ask the dinosaurs or the vikings LOL

  8. oooh celebrities…now I feel Good About Wood…

  9. 7:24 –
Dr. Hansen is quite well known and quoted, interviewed or spotlighted in the NY Times almost weekly.

What are you, one of the 10 remaining people who still read the NY Times?

  10. Dr. Hansen was included in Time Magazine’s 2006 “100 Most Influential People”. Agree with him or call him a nut — doesn’t matter. He’s a former Ridgewood resident of notoriety.

  11. 8:25 – I’m one of the people who still read!

  12. I love the NYT.

  13. 11:33 AM –
    Re: “I love the NYT.”

Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life.

(Fat assumed… apologies if you are not).

  14. 9:02 AM (aka – 7:24 AM)

Are you saying that the other 9 only look at the pictures?

    Well, I’m not surprised.

  15. Why are you bashing Hansen? He was the first to predict the ice age.

And why isn’t Tim Brennan on the list? He made Ridgewood a household name at Stanford, Harvard and NYU.

As for Favre, I have heard that he is no longer considering Ridgewood because of concerns he has over the math program.

  16. Before the News Corp. took over the WSJ –

    Who Reads the Newspapers

    1. The Wall Street Journal is read by the people who run the country.

    2. The Washington Post is read by people who think they run the country.

    3. The New York Times is read by people who think they should run the country.

    4. USA Today is read by people who think they should run the country but don’t really understand the Washington Post. They do, however, like their statistics shown in pie charts.

    5. The Los Angeles Times is read by people who wouldn’t mind running the country, if they could spare the time, and if they didn’t have to leave LA to do it.

    6. The Boston Globe is read by people whose parents used to run the country and they did a far superior job of it, thank you very much.

    7. The New York Daily News is read by people who aren’t too sure who’s running the country, and don’t really care as long as they can get a seat on the train.

    8. The New York Post is read by people who don’t care who’s running the country, as long as they do something really scandalous, preferably while intoxicated.

    9. The San Francisco Chronicle is read by people who aren’t sure there is a country or that anyone is running it; but whoever it is, they oppose all that they stand for. There are occasional exceptions if the leaders are handicapped minority feminist atheist dwarfs, who also happen to be illegal aliens from any country or galaxy as long as they are Democrats.

    10. The Miami Herald is read by people who are running another country but need the baseball scores.

  17. Well, if the NY Times features Hansen, then by golly he must be important.

  18. 7:32 Dr Hansen is a brilliant scientist. It is possible that you don’t understand the work that he does. Name calling will not diminish the value of his work. I am sure that you are the smartest person in your house.

  19. 7:12 AM –

Well, I am surely not as smart as you are.

Since you clearly “understand the work that he does”, can you please explain it to me?

I’m sure you are steeped in knowledge in this area and are not just buying into his rhetoric whole sale just because it is aligned with concepts that sound good and right to you.

  20. http://www.columbia.edu/~jeh1/

There are links to many of his presentations. The PDF presentations are PowerPoint and are outlines of his topics. Most of these were presented at universities and to scientific orgs.

Your “feelings” on the subject are quaint. More than 20 years of research are science.

  21. 5:32 PM-

“The work that he does” is that of an environment-crusading ideologue playing the role of martyr to W’s unenlightened Roman Emporer.

The problem is, he has had a run of bad luck. None of the nearby centurions appear comfortable with the idea of arresting and tormenting him. In the meantime, his cause is beginning to lose its currency. Pretty soon, he and Al Gore are going to end up on the political equivalent of the Senior PGA Tour.

  22. I see your unsubstaniated research and raise you an Ice Age article…

    Time Magazine: “Another Ice Age?”

  23. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzSzItt6h-s

I’ll up the ante and ask you to check out the BBC doc, The Great Global Warming Swindle, on YouTube.

  24. does that nut job Hansen really live in Ridgewood? Wow Ridgewood really is going nutty. What next? We host the DNC and the maybe we can get a bunch of commies and socialists to move in.
