  1. This really isn’t funny. I don’t know if it’s true or not, but it doesn’t get any yuks from me.

  2. This letter on the Oradell school district’s web site is from January 2008. Are there any parents out there from Oradell/River Edge that would write to this blog and share their pain with us? Or hasn’t the uproar started yet?

    “Dear K-2 Families,
River Edge and Oradell began a new math program in grades K-2, Everyday Mathematics. To
have a clear idea of what is being taught in math this year, how it is being taught, and how you
can support your child at home, we are holding a Parent Math Night on Wednesday, January
30th . . . . Please come to this fun and informative event to learn about Everyday Mathematics and receive your own Parent Handbook. . . . .I look forward to seeing
    you there!”

  3. hey RHS can move up in rankings by giving eveyone else dumb dumb math hehehehehehhehehehehehehehe

  4. The virus spreads.

  5. Yea!!! Another math night. The babe Shultz must be raking in the dough.

  6. They will not stop until every school has dumb-downed its curriculum.

  7. well its only FAIR if our kids cant add why should yours?

  8. Someone quoted me in the comments under the “John Lornez Leaving Ridgewood High School? – New Schools Superintendent Selected?” blog post.

Here again are my words… so appropriate to this conversation:

    On constructivist math:

Evil is the product of the ability of humans to make abstract that which is concrete.

On the uninformed who support it:

“I hate victims who respect their executioners.”

On those who carry the banner of Real Math and soldier on in spite of setbacks, fighting for the children and for academic excellence:

“A lost battle is a battle one thinks one has lost.”

“It is only in our decisions that we are important.”

    – Jean Paul Sartre
