Vox populi :What is going on with Emergency Services?

In Uncategorized on September 26, 2006 at 11:02 am

Hi PJBlogger…
I am wondering if there is any info on what is going on with the management there…Bob Greenlaw resigned earlier this year, now I am told that the new Chief Paul Gilard is resigning as of October 1st, and the latest I was told is one of the two Captains resigned, and the other is not being asked to resign at the end of the year. The person I spoke to, who I would rather not name, incase this is not yet public info, said that the current Deputy Chief Brian Pullman, who is also a Police Officer in town will be the new Chief…just seems like a conflict of interest. They are apparently really really short on EMTs, it just seems like something is going wrong. This came from a very reliable source, a long time member who is an officer…so I was just wondering if you could post and maybe get some feedback. A couple of cops in town who are ‘buddies’ with Ten Hoeve already confirmed the Gilard resignment and the Pullman appointment. Could this be related to the Parkwood
Incident? Thanks.Apple iTunes Sharper Image

  1. your reaching…

one has absolutely nothing to do with the other.

  2. I think the department is going through some leadership changes for the better. It started with Gilard, and although he is leaving, i think with some new leadership the deparment will be much better off.

  3. THE FOOD IS NOT BAD. I MUST SAY IT HAS A NICE TASTE TO IT.I LIKE IT THE BEST OUT OF ALL THE REST.

  4. Things in life are cyclical. You will see a lot of changes at once and then things will even out and then you will see a lot of changes again. Chief Gilard has served the Village for several decades with nothing but the highest of integrity and utmost professionalism. I have no doubt that Chief Gilard is leaving of his own accord for whatever reason he has.

  5. Maybe the leadership in some other departments should be changed too. At least Emergency Services is identifying its problems and CORRECTING them. It may be wise for the Village to look at the problems its having in other areas and change some of the management accordingly.

  6. I LOVE RIDGEWOOD. ITS THE BEST PLACE TO LIVE AND TO GO TO SCHOOL.AND WE HAVEONE OF THE BEST SERVICES AROUND. SO IF YOU DONT LIKE THIS PLACE JUST GET UP AND MOVE TO A PLACE THAT YOU LIKE, AND BE HAPPY.THANK YOU THE VILLAGE INC.

  7. That place will be a free-for-all with the new management. All the decent leaders are no longer there. Its a shame where that department is headed.

  8. I heard the resignations this year have more to do with the way the Village counsel treats its volunteers and the safety of its residents!! The volunteers give their every free minute to serve the people of the village… and do it all FREE! Money they ask for to replace aged and non-functioning equipment is strictly to serve the residents who need it… such as a replacing one of the ambulances since one of the town’s current ones won’t start when you need it and call 911… How would you feel when you call 911 for an emergency and the ambulance can’t get to you because it stalled on the way…. WAY TO GO VILLAGE COUNSEL you officially don’t care about the health and safety of you own residents!!!!

…..and the reason so many houses are for sale in town is because ?
I remember when it used to be the best town in the state (40 years ago)best schools, best of everything ,but now its a dump like the rest of the state and the idiots (town council and BOE) try to justify anything stupid and incompetent they do …you need to lay off the stuff and open your eyes…

  10. “That place will be a free-for-all with the new management. All the decent leaders are no longer there. Its a shame where that department is headed.”

You obviously have no idea what your talking about. “Decent leaders” havnt been around since 2004.

  11. AMERICA, LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT!!

I would only change one word in that famous saying…replace AMERICA with Ridgewood

    Your friendly Village Idiot

  12. all i can say that i love you.

  13. and i like to say that the parkwood is the best.and paul is a greatguy to.he would help any one he could.thats the guy he is.

  14. paul dude your the king,

  15. Paul Gilard=Good Guy!!! Do not dispute it!

  16. Paul is a great guy, a great father, and a great chief. I am sorry to see him go. He has done a great deal of service for the Village, and we should appreciate that he at least tried to fill this gap after Bob Greenlaw left. Thank you Paul and the Gilard family! It will be interesting to watch the police chief try and eat his ego now that one of his cops is the Chief of Emergency Services, a department that is larger than the police department. Somehow I don’t see Bill Corcoran dealing well with that for too long, but good luck to Brian Pullman in dealing with all the dirt they will try and dish.

Ridgewood was a great place for me to raise my kids, but my last one started college last month and I plan to be moved out of here by the summer. Good luck to everyone in public safety, volunteer and paid. Stay safe, go home to your families and the end of each day…and PLEASE TRY AND WORK TOGETHER!

I used to think this way when I moved here ten years ago. From 60,000 feet it really does seem this way, and for those that are heavily wrapped in in their long Manhattan working hours, it all seems so white picket fence perfect. Dig a little deeper and you come across a great deal of incompetence, nepotism, and favoritism in village management.

  18. THATS THE WAY IT IS IN NEW YOURK,DUMBO.I WORKED IN NY 40YEARS,SO WHAT ARE YOU SAYING,ITS THE SAME ALL OVER THE PLACE COME ON WHAT DO YOU DO FOR WORK AND HOO GAVE YOU A DAM JOB.???????????????.
